How Seniors Can Boost Their Energy Now

Just because you’re aging doesn’t mean that it’s time to slow down, high energy levels don’t have to be a thing of the past. Use our energy boosting tips to get out and enjoy your golden years.

6 Tips for Seniors to Fully Energize

Whether it’s getting outdoors or taking on new habits we have the tips to feeling full of energy.

1. Get Moving Outdoors

A brisk walk along a neighborhood trail or an indoor track is a fantastic way to make you feel alert and focused. Take a walk outside to enjoy the added boost of Vitamin D for the best results. If walking isn’t your thing, you can also consider an energetic morning yoga flow.

Any brisk exercise that does not wear you out will work wonders on the level of your energy. Research has shown that exercise boosts your cardiovascular system’s effectiveness and increases energy-related neurotransmitters, such as dopamine, so get out there and get active!

2. Stay Hydrated

Seniors getting dehydrated has a catastrophic impact on energy levels. Body dehydration as little as 2 percent can lead in a 30% reduction in activity ability. Make it a deliberate effort to drink about 2 liters of water every day with that in mind. Drink a glass of water and have a good snack if you feel sluggish or tired, this should give you energy immediately.

3. Eat A Healthy Diet

Diet has a major effect on our energy levels, especially one that is too rich in carbohydrates, sugars and foods that have been processed will make you feel groggy. Foods high in quality protein, vitamins and lean fats  are perfect for continuous energy. Turn to whole sources of food such as chicken, tuna and turkey as well as eggs, seeds and leafy greens for optimum energy levels.

4. Good Sleeping Patterns

If you don’t sleep well, the next morning you can’t expect to feel full of energy. Unfortunately, many elderly are suffering from sleep problems that impair their capacity to wake up refreshed.

Create good sleep practices, such as prohibiting electronics from your bedroom, making your space as dark as possible, keeping the room cool, creating a bedtime routine, and using a white noise machine if you’re a light sleeper.

5. Zen Out

For everything from our health and well being to our energy levels, meditation works wonders. Multiple studies have shown that meditation is linked to enhanced productivity, concentration, and energy.

Meditation enables your brain to shut off for a period of time and assist you to refocus and recharge. If you have never previously maintained a meditative practice, don’t worry. Today there are dozens of ways to meditate. Look for a local meditation group or yoga center offering meditation sessions.

6. De-Stress

Stress can be all-consuming if it’s left untreated, which takes a toll on your energy levels. Developing methods for dealing with stress in a healthy and positive way are essential.

Meditation or a relaxing walk can be helpful. If your stress is widespread, consider speaking to a therapist or calling a close friend. We have more energy remaining for the most significant things in our life when we regulate our stress.
